Rock hurled through window
Nov. 18, it was reported that sometime between Nov. 10 and Nov. 17, a stone had been hurled through a downstairs window at a home on the 7300 block of 34th Ave NW. The stone, in its violent trajectory, damaged the single-pane window. The interior blinds were also damaged. With no evidence of the suspect located, the stone’s chucker remains a mystery.
Burglar from Vashon makes a clatter upon storage door
Close to 3 a.m. on Nov. 18, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 2800 block of NW 58th St, where they found a man on the ground holding down a woman.
The man was the building employee. He was doing his rounds when he heard a loud clatter upon his storage closet door. He went to see what was astir and found the woman attempting to breach the storage door with two crowbars. He told her to drop the crowbars or he would call authorities. She tried to flee. He took hold of her by the jacket that she wore and held her down upon the cold apartment floor. They remained there until officers arrived. Neither transgressor nor vigilante suffered injuries.
The woman, from Vashon Island, was taken to the North Precinct and booked into King County Jail. The storage door sustained an estimated 5 hundred dollars worth of damage inflicted by the crowbars.
Rug moved, battery gone, doors damaged
Nov. 19, at 10:30 p.m., SPD were dispatched to a condo on the 6000 block of Phinney Ave N for a reported burglary. The victim reported that on Nov. 5 she had arrived in the secure parking garage of her condo to find her moped had been tampered with and her floor mat had been moved. She noticed her moped battery was gone and that her storage unit had been broken into. Nothing was taken from the unit.
She said she had contacted the condo manager and that security footage showed a white male suspect in his 20 to 30’s wearing a dark hooded jacket and jeans carrying away her moped battery. The suspect had gained access by prying open and damaging the front door. She said she had not reported the incident until then because she had been to busy.
Dirty deeds: bicycle stolen from laundry room
On Nov. 19 at 10:57 p.m. SPD responded to a burglary report at an apartment building on the 8300 block of 13 Ave NW. The victim reported that on Nov. 14 she had secured her bike in the downstairs laundry room. The next morning a neighbor asked why the laundry room was in such disarray. She went down the stair to have a look and that’s when the victim realized a thief had made off with her bicycle. The door leading outside from the laundry room had been damaged. A finger print search was not made because of the elapsed time.
Sailors fell in Shilshole Bay
On Nov. 23rd, in Shilshole Bay a harbor patrol unit and U.S. Coast Guard were dispatched after reports of two men into the bay.
Close to 4 a.m., two men fell off a 40 ft. sailboat near Golden Gardens and were unable to get out of the water. They were in the water for sometime before onlookers called the police.
The two victims managed to keep from drowning by hanging on to life preservers and ropes that had been thrown to them by friends.
The two victims were rescued and rushed to Harborview Medical Center for potential hypothermia treatment. It is not know how the men ended up in the water but police are investigating.
