Man punches woman in bar
Dec. 7 on the 8500 block of Greenwood Ave. N., at approximately midnight, officers responded to a report of a man who had punched a female in the face. Officers found the woman outside a bar, and she told officers she had been in the bar talking with the suspect for much of the day when the conversation turned to religion. She told the suspect that she did not believe religion should be discussed in a bar and the suspect grew angry. The suspect threw a glass of water in the woman’s face. She grabbed his drink, which enraged the suspect further. The suspect grabbed a five-dollar bill that belonged to the women and when she tried to retrieve it he punched her in the face. Patrons of the bar physically removed the suspect and he fled the scene on foot last seen moving northbound on Greenwood Avenue.
Wigged bank robber fled, suspect found in alley.
On Dec. 4 at 2:32 p.m. officers responded to a robbery report at a bank on 8500 block of 15th Avenue N.W. Bank employees and the manager told officers that an unknown male in his late forties with a short beard and messy blonde hair came into the bank wearing a green jumpsuit and dark rimmed glasses. He walked up to a teller and passed a note saying that he wanted money and that he had a gun. The bank teller said, “No,” and the suspect reached for something in the in his pocket. The suspect said, “Are you going to give me the money?” and the bank teller said, “No.” The suspect then left the bank. The bank employees said they thought the suspect was wearing a wig. Officers later found a possible suspect matching the description in the alley near the bank. Officers arrested the suspect.
Scuffle at homeless facility
At the 1700 block of N.W. 56th Street on Dec. 6, officers responded to an assault at a housing assistance facility. Two victims had been assaulted. One victim was an employee at the facility and said that the second victim had entered the facility and said the suspect was not welcome there. The suspected entered and attacked one victim, punching her in the head. The suspect fled and police were unable to locate him.
A woman fires pepper spray and flees in Volvo
Dec. 5 at 7:51 p.m. officers responded to a report on the 8500 block of Mary Ave. N.W. Officers met the complainant and she told officers that she heard a female yelling and banging on a tenant’s door. She witnesses a door open and a group of people emerged and moved downstairs to the entree way of the building. A verbal altercation ensued. They went outside and the complainant witnessed the suspect spray the group of people. The suspect then fled in a silver Volvo station wagon. The complainant said that she believed the vehicle had collided with a parked car.
Door unlocked, coins and jewelry taken
Dec. 4 on the 1700 block of N.W. 85th Street, a burglary was reported. Officers arrived on the scene and met the victim. He said that he had left his apartment at 7 a.m, leaving the front door unlocked. When he returned later that evening he noticed that some jewelry and coins that he kept in his upstairs room were missing. Officers were unable to uncover any fingerprints of the suspect.
