Fraudulent fiend puts pressure for phony checks

April 2 – At 15th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 59th Street police responded to a robbery and assault. The complainant told officers that over the course of three days the suspect harassed him and forced him to withdraw large sums of money from his personal account. The suspect made first contact with the complainant at his job and asked, “Do you want to make some real money?” The complainant said he did. Then a later he noticed the suspect following him in his car and so he pulled over. The suspect got out of his car with another individual and slammed the complainant against his car, demanding his driver’s license and debit card. The suspect took a picture of the complainant’s driver’s license and threatened to hurt him if he didn’t cooperate. The next two days the suspect deposited and withdrew a series of forged checks totaling five thousand dollars while threatening to hurt the complainant if he didn’t cooperate. The complainant feared for his family and decided not to call the police. He received a bill from his bank for the total amount withdrawn. Police have no leads for the suspect.

Construction crook makes off with the whole bit

March 29 – Officers responded to the 8500 block of 32nd Avenue Northwest where a complainant reported a burglary. Officers were already at the scene responding to another burglary in the same apartment complex. The manager told officers that he had some construction done a week before and that there was a master key in the lockbox outside. The manager checked the box and the key was gone. The suspect used the key to gain entry to a storage room, and took three electric drills. No evidence was recovered from the scene.

To keep one’s head call a spade a spade

March 28 – Officers responded to an assault at the 900 block of Third Avenue Northwest. They arrived on the scene and made contact with the victim. His head was bleeding. He said that he came to the residence to move a stove with his friend. Hi friend knew the suspect. In the back yard the three were talking and the suspect called the victim a “punk.” The two got into an argument and the suspect told the victim to leave. When getting into his truck, the victim said the suspect came towards him brandishing a shovel. The victim didn’t think he would actually use the shovel and got out of his car. The suspect swung the shovel at the victim’s head. The victim was able to block the blow with his elbow but still sustained a two-inch laceration to his head. He refused medical treatment from the Fire Department. Officers entered the residence to find the suspect but he had fled with the shovel.

Commons thief takes bike

March 28 – At the 5500 block of ½ Seventh Avenue Northwest officer responded to burglary. The complainant told officers that a bicycle had been stolen from a storage within the apartment complex where he lived. He said all the tenants have access to the space. The complainant did not have the serial number nor did he know the make and model of the bike. No evidence was recovered.

Back-slider takes booty

March 27 – At the 7200 block of Sixth Avenue Northwest officer responded to a burglary after a complainant reported someone had broken through a back window and stole items from his home. Officers arrived on the scene and found the window frame destroyed. Police dusted for prints but were unable to find any prints.
