Thief preps for carpentry apocalypse, takes company van with tools

June 10, SPD officers were dispatched to a burglary/forced entry report at a business residing at the 700 block of 15th Avenue Northwest. The suspect gained entry by rampaging through a side door. The suspect loaded air tools and other items into a company van that was parked in the garage, and then fled with the bounty. No fingerprints were recovered.

Suspect plays Mozart on squad car, assumes arrest after altercation

On June 7 officers responded to an assault at a home on the 4300 block of Fifth Avenue Northwest. Officers found the victim bloody and intoxicated with an apparent broken nose. The victim was talking gibberish at first and told officers he didn’t know why he had been assaulted. Later the victim told officers that the suspect would not give him his keys. He directed officers to the house where the incident took place. Officers made contacted with the resident who was evasive when asked about the fight. The suspect appeared intoxicated, and he eventually told officers that the fight had been over a woman residing in the house. He was asked to come outside and the suspect immediately left his home and put his hands on the squad car, assuming arrest. Officers discovered the suspect was in violation of an unrelated court order and arrested.

Painter pilfers cash and punches woman, leaves incriminating work van

June 3, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex at the 1700 block of Northwest 56th Street where a robbery and altercation was reported. The complainant told officers that the suspect was in a physical fight with a woman because he had allegedly stolen $120 from her. After the complainant intervened, the suspect and woman ran westbound. Officers were able to locate the woman and she told officers that she knew the suspect and that they had been imbibing a local pub. Later they went back to her place where the suspect stole the money from her purse. The victim had a cut on her face from the fight. She told officers that the suspect was a painter and that his work van was parked down the street. Officers located the van and were able to secure the assailant’s name.
