Seattle Parks and Recreation repairs Golden Gardens Park hillside damaged by landslide
Wed, 08/13/2014
Seattle Parks and Recreation will begin work this week on Seaview Place NW/ Golden Gardens Drive NW in Golden Gardens Park. The project will repair landslide damage and install drainage in the hillside. Construction work is expected to be completed by September 30, 2014.
The contractor, Goodfellow Brothers Construction, will work during daylight hours and traffic will be limited to one lane at times. Goodfellow Brothers will have flaggers and construction signage above the dog park and below/south of the railroad tracks to help with the traffic flow and alert drivers.
The site is located along Golden Gardens Drive NW, approximately 800 feet north of the intersection with Seaview Avenue NW. Golden Gardens Drive Northwest is situated in a deep-seated slide zone and is an asphalt-paved roadway that winds through Golden Gardens Park. Golden Garden’s dog park is located north east of the site, and a Burlington Northern Rail line is located west of the site. The remainder of the surrounding area is undeveloped park property. It is one of only two arterial streets (and non-arterial street) by which the heavily-used Shilshole Bay area can be accessed by motor vehicle. Major landslides and heavy erosion activity have occurred in this general vicinity.
