Tools taken from construction site

On August 31, Seattle Police Department officers responded to a reported burglary at a construction site on the 600 block of Northwest Bright Street. The construction company owner told officers that he had left a set of keys on the job site for a ladder and large toolbox. When workers arrived at the site, they noticed many of their tools had been taken. Workers had very little information to track the tools. The value of the loss is estimated at $1,575. Officers have no leads for the suspect.

Man yells abuse and throws rock

On September 5, at a parking garage located at the 2800 block of Northwest Market Street, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon. The victim told officers that he had locked his keys in his car and was waiting for a tow company when the suspect, a white male, began yelling slurs at him. The suspect went to the bathroom in a nearby gas station, and when he emerged began yelling at the victim again, and threw a rock at him. The victim dodged the rock and the suspect ran off. The victim described the suspect as a 65-year-old male in a gray cap and khaki pants. He told offices that he had seen the suspect before, and that the last time they made contact, the suspect threw a chair at him. Officers are looking into surveillance footage of the incident.

Vacationers find home rifled through and car gone

After returning home from vacation, a couple living on the 9200 block of 24th Avenue Northwest found their home rifled through, room to room. On September 2, police observed that a suspect had stacked outdoor furniture to gain access to the roof of the home. From there, the suspect found a window and gained access. The suspect(s) took their time and went room to room, rummaging through everything. The couple is still doing an inventory of the stolen property, but did report that a Subaru and large television were taken. They reported that the suspect attempted to use their credit cards. Officers checked for latent fingerprints but found none. The victims’ car was later found at the Orion Motel on Aurora Avenue North.

Painting thief caught in the act

On August 31 at the 100 block of Northwest 145th Street, officers responded to an attempted burglary at a residence. The complainants told officers that they went to their vacant home, which they have for sale, and saw that an interior garage light was on and that there was a white car in the garage. The complainants assumed it was a realtor and went to the front door. They found that the door had been kicked in and the door jam damaged. The complainants called 911, and at about the same time, they heard a screech from the garage and saw the white car drive off. Nothing was missing from the house, but there were paintings taken off the wall. No leads were recovered.
