Cig-thief heaves rock through window, takes smokes
On October 10, officers responded to a burglary at the 800 block of Northwest 85th Street. A witness told officers that she saw a man run from a business late in the night. The man had packages of smoke and was wheezing and sweating profusely. He ran through some bushes and into an alleyway near the building. A K9 unit tried to track the suspect, but the trail ended in the alley. The poor dog gathered the man’s scent from cigarette butts. The business owner arrived and unlocked the store. Officers cleared the building. The business owner reported that the suspect took a large amount of cigarettes. Surveillance footage showed a man wearing a mask and gloves throwing a large rock through the glass window. He then climbed in and grabbed the smokes and fled. The business owner reported $5,000 in damages and stolen goods.
Snoozer looses laptop
On October 10 officer responded to a residential burglary at the 2600 block of Northwest 56th Street. The resident told officers she took a nap that afternoon and when she awake her laptop was missing. She said that she must have left her sliding door unlocked. She said she did not record the serial number for the laptop. Officers dusted for prints but none were collected. The complainant valued the laptop at $1,100.
Fender-fiend grabs guitar from storage room
On October 11, Seattle police responded to a burglary at the 100 block of Northwest 54th Street. The complainant told officers that her Fender guitar had been stolen from a secure storage facility in her apartment building. The door that led to the storage facility had been torn through and there were pry marks on the doorframe. Officers are inquiring with the building manager about surveillance footage of the scene. The complainant told officers that the guitar is worth $700.
Bandit risks arrest for three cans of soda and pocket full of coins
On October 12, officers responded to another burglary at a residence at the 7700 block of 14th Avenue Northwest. The complainant told officers she left his home earlier that day and when she returned she noticed a side window open. She checked her fridge and noticed three cans of 7 Up were missing. She also reported an Elks Lodge container with $50 in coins was taken. Also, a large metal container where she keeps important items was moved. Officers dusted the metal container for fingerprints and collected the complainants finger prints for comparison.
