Alzheimer’s disease is one of the fastest growing concerns in the United States. It is the sixth leading cause of death in the nation and is the only cause of death in the top ten without a way to prevent, cure, or slow its progression. Within Washington State, Alzheimer’s disease is the third leading cause of death and the prediction is 140,000 people will be living with Alzheimer’s disease by 2025. In the year 2013, nearly 319,000 people in the state of Washington cared for loved ones living with dementia. The Alzheimer’s Association is the world leader in Alzheimer’s disease research and support, and we are continually striving to progress and make a difference in the fight against this disease. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s. For more information on the Alzheimer’s Association, visit www.alzwa.org.
