‘Crack head’ takes wallet and electronics from Ballard home
A Ballard man is missing some electronics after a known “crack head” broke into his home at 900 NW 60th Street. On May 1 the complainant told police that he heard footsteps on the ground level of his home. He went downstairs to check and noticed the backdoor was open and his iPad, laptop and wallet were gone. A witness told officers that she saw a known “crack head” repeatedly walk by the complainant’s home. She said he disappeared from her sight for about a minute, and then she saw the suspect walk quickly away from the home holding a bag close to his chest. She also told officers that her daughter had been friends with the suspect when they were children and that he was a “problem child” and a known trouble maker in the neighborhood.
Vicious attack at Golden Gardens Park leaves victim with no sight
Seattle police are investigating an assault that occurred at Golden Gardens Park on May 2 that left man with no sight. Police spoke to the victim on May 4, and he told them that he is a student at a technology school in the region. The night of the incident he and his girlfriend were at the park with other classmates. Another group of “rowdy” classmates arrived. Out of nowhere, the suspect -- a classmate of the victim’s -- tackled him from behind. Then the suspect choked the victim. A friend of the victim’s broke the two apart. Later, the victim asked the suspect why he had tackled him. The suspect responded by slapping and then punching the victim. Then the two groups started fighting. In the fight, another suspect held the victim down, and the suspect gouged the victim’s eyes with his thumbs. The victim described the pain as excruciating. The suspect also pushed sand in the victim’s eyes during the attack. The fight broke up and the victim’s girlfriend rushed him to Swedish Hospital. He suffered optical nerve damage that was so severe he had to be transferred to Harborview Medical Center. He also had a deep laceration on his knee. The victim told officers that the suspect is an army veteran who owns weapons and has anger problems. The suspect was known for choking out students in class. Police wrote a statement for the vicitm and read it to him because he could not see. The victim was able to provide the names and telephone numbers of the people at the incident.
