Police catch two burglars in the act
Seattle police arrested two suspects while they were trespassing in a home on the 2000 block of NW 65th Street on August 22. Officers were called to the residence after the owner reported two males were in the home. Officers made contact with the owner across from the house, and he told them that his neighbor had called and said there were two men trespassing in his home. Officers could hear male voices coming from the house. They called for backup. One suspect tried to flee out the back door and officers apprehended him. They called to the other suspect in the home. After two minutes the suspect came out and surrendered. In the home officers found drawers rummaged through and graffiti on the walls. The owners said he had had problems with trespassers in the past. Both suspects were booked at King County Jail for trespassing.
John Doe booked for harassment after dumpster diving
Police arrested a man after he threatened a woman with a knife when she confronted him for digging through her trash on the 1700 block of 65th Street on August 29. The complainant told officers that the man had been a nuisance for some time and had rummaged through her garage before. She confronted the man while he was looking through her trash. The suspect stopped and pulled out a one-foot-long knife from his jacket. The complainant said he made stabbing motions in her direction. She felt threatened and called police. The suspect fled the scene. When officers arrived a neighbor reported that the suspect was just down the street from them, digging in another garbage bin. Police located the suspect and arrested him. He was carrying a book of kitchen knives. The suspect admitted that he had encountered the woman but that he had not threatened her. He told officers his name and said that he was from California. Police searched the database for his name and nothing came up. The suspect adamantly said he was telling the truth. Police brought the suspect to the North Precinct for fingerprinting. There he started complaining of a stomachache and said he had swallowed a large amount of crack before he was arrested. Police suspected the man did not want to be booked and fingerprinted to conceal his identity. When officers pressed him, he said, “Awe, okay. I didn’t swallow any crack.” The suspect was booked at King County Jail.
