Neighbor foils cell phone fiend’s burglary attempt
The Team Mobile store on the 8300 block of 15th Avenue NW is having their main door replaced after a burglary attempt on Sept. 4. Late that night Seattle Police received a call from a neighbor of the store who said she saw four young men attempt to pry the door open. The men were making a lot of noise, which alerted the neighbor. She called out to the men and said she was gong to call the police. The men scattered and fled. When police arrived they found the front door badly damaged. The cost to repair the door is $2500.
Cig-pig breaks into car, has smoke before leaving the scene
Officers were called to the 2200 block of NW 58th Street on August 31 after a woman found her car broken into and smelling like cigarette smoke. The complainant told officers that she went to bed and found her car disturbed the next morning. Security footage collected from the building where she lives show the suspect entered the car without damaging the door. He used a Slim-Jim type of tool. The suspect ransacked the cab and rummaged through the trunk. The suspect took his time. Before leaving the scene the suspect sat in the car and smoked a cigarette. Police collected the cigarette butt for evidence. No fingerprints were found at the scene. The estimated value of the theft was $300.
Man arrested after throwing rocks at disabled victim
Officers arrested a man after he assaulted a disabled man at a social service organization located on the 1700 block of NW 56th Street on September 3. Police were called after a witness observed the suspect throw gravel and stones at the victim. The suspect was also seen standing over the victim in a confrontational and threatening manner. Based on the suspect’s description , police had an idea of who it was and ran the suspect’s record, which indicated he had a $5000 warrant for assault. When police arrived the staff of the organization said the suspect had fled. Police scoured the neighborhood and found the suspect a short distance from the scene. They arrested him and read him his rights. The suspect was booked for assault at King County Jail. The victim sustained no major injuries during the ordeal.
