Seattle police are searching for a group of males after a home invasion at an apartment located on the 300 NW 85th Street Sept. 23.
Police responded to reports of a disturbance from neighbors of the victims. They said there was a potential robbery in progress and reported hearing a gunshot and a woman scream, “They're trying to rob us!”
Police arrived at the scene and located the apartment unit where the disturbance was reported. There was blood on the door and in the hallway. There was also a Walther .22 caliber pistol found in the parking lot. The unit was locked. Neighbors said that the victims – a male and female couple – went to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a local Ballard hospital called police and reported that a man was being treated for a laceration to his face from being pistol-whipped.
Police went to the emergency room of the hospital and made contact with the victims who were accompanied by the male victim’s father. They said that they arrived home and that three men forced their way into their apartment as they unlocked the door. One male was described to be white, in his 20s with a chin-patch beard and blonde hair. The other two suspects were described as young Hispanic individuals.
They entered the apartment and immediately hit the male victim with a pistol. The victim was able to fight off his attacker and as he did one of the other suspects said, "You're gonna have to shoot him.” The male victim was able to lock his pinkie in the trigger guard of the pistol as the white suspect pointed it at him. The male victim was able to get the pistol from the suspect. The suspects fled by breaking through a window. The male victim followed the suspects as they got into a 2000 model Honda Civic. He broke the back window with the pistol as they drove off.
At the hospital the male victim was treated for a broken pinky and a laceration to his face. The victims told police that they had no idea why the men attacked them, but that they have a $4000 glass bong and keep cannabis in the apartment.
They also told police that the suspects never fired a shot. However, police found a potential bullet hole in the doorframe of their apartment unit. No bullet casing was found at the scene.
The male victim’s father told police he used to live in the apartment unit before his son. Police ran a background check on the father and found out he has a long criminal history with gang involvement and narcotic sales. Neighbors told police that the male victim sells cannabis.
Police could not disclose any other details as they investigate the incident.
