Teens assault man with Taser, flee
Police are looking for two African American teens who attempted to assault a man with a Taser on the 8500 block of 16th Ave. N.W. on Sept. 21. The victim told police that he had just arrived home from work when the incident occurred. He was stepping out of his car when the two teens approached him. One of the teens asked him for a dollar. The victim said “No,” and the teen revealed a Taser from his pocket. The suspect pressed the Taser to the victim’s wrist. The victim felt a slight sting and said, “Hey!” When the suspects saw the victim was unfazed by the Taser they ran. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
Baseball cards stolen from safe
A Ballard man is missing his prized baseball cards after his home on the 3200 block of N.W. 70th St. was burglarized on Sept. 25. The suspect called police after he arrived home and found his kitchen cabinets and safe disturbed. The complainant found an unknown number of his valuable baseball cards missing from his safe. He told officers that he recently showed his cards to another person who lives nearby. Police were unable to lift any fingerprints from the scene. The cards were estimated to be a worth a few hundred dollars.
Rented Treks stolen from secure parking garage
Two rented Trek bicycles were stolen from a secure parking garage in a building located on the 5300 block of Leary Way on Sept. 27. The victim came home and found the bikes gone. She told officers that she had secured them with a U-lock the night before. The bicycles were white Trek 1 series road bikes rented from a local company and were estimated to be $700 each.
Burglar makes off with $10,000 in jewelry
Police are searching for burglar who stole $10,000 of jewelry from a home located on the 3200 block of N.W. 57th St. on Sept. 24. Police were dispatched to the scene after the complaint found her back door kicked in and drawers rummaged through. The complainant said that she had secured all the doors of her home before leaving for a few hours. Police believe the suspect kicked the door in because the doorframe was badly damage. The complainant was missing a solid gold locket, diamond earrings, a charm bracelet and two pearl necklaces. Police were unable to recover any fingerprints from the scene.
