Passport and ammunition taken from Ballard home
Police are searching for a burglar who broke into a home on the 5500 block of Seventh Avenue N.W. and stole passports and ammunition. On Oct. 8, the complainant called police after he came home and found the back door to his home kicked in and the kitchen and other rooms rifled through. Drawers were pulled out. Cabinets were opened. The complainant also found that a gun safe in his room had been disturbed but not opened. There were impact marks on the top of the safe. In another room the complainant found passports had been taken from a secure location. There was also ammunition taken from the resident’s cache. No fingerprints or security footage was recovered.
Over $5,000 in electronics ransacked
A Ballard resident is missing a collection of electronics after a burglar broke into her home at the 7000 block of First Avenue N.W. on Oct. 7. She came home after being gone for a week to find the back door to her home kicked in and the place trashed. Her Macbook Pro, Cannon camera and two wallets that contained miscellaneous credit cards and insurance cards were stolen. The estimated value of her property was estimated to be over $5,000. Police noticed the complainant’s television had been moved and asked if she had moved it recently. She had not. Police believed the suspect had moved it and were able to recover latent fingerprints.
Muggers make off with hoard of goods and cash
Police are searching for three suspects after they mugged a woman at the 600 block of N.W. 86th Street on Oct. 8. Police received a call from the victim and immediately drove to her home. She told police that three male suspects approached her as she was getting out of her car. She could only remember the main suspect, and she described him as a black male with a dark skin tone, in his 20s, around six feet tall, thin build and short black hair. The suspect told her to give up what she had. The victim gave them a $750 brown MGM backpack containing a rose-gold colored Apple iPhone 6S 64GB, a gold colored Apple iPhone 5S 16GB, $800 in cash, two car keys, two house keys, a wallet, multiple credit cards, her cannabis medical card, California Driver's License and work keys. Police recovered a necklace and a few keys near the victim’s car. They searched the area but were unable to find the suspects.
