Burglar makes off with $5,000 of scrap metal
A business on the 1100 block of N.W. 52nd St. is missing $5,000 worth of scrap metal after a string of burglaries occurred in October. The business manager said that he came to work after the weekend on Oct. 14 and found that a container that stored machinery in the yard had been broken into. The padlock had been pried off. The yard is fenced around with a ten-foot high fence. Police suspect the burglar pulled down some overgrown shrubs to climb over the fence. The manager said that this was the second burglar to happen in the last two weeks. The time before the suspect made off with the scrap metal, which was being stored in the yard. However, the manager never reported it. With no surveillance footage, police were unable to recover any leads.
Bike-thieves leave bolt cutters and bicycles after being run off
Security personnel of an apartment complex located 2200 block of N.W. 58th St. chased off a group of bike-burglars on the night of Oct. 24. When police arrived security personnel gave them a backpack the burglars had dropped. Bolt cutters were inside the backpack. The suspects had managed to cut a lock to a secure parking garage to gain access. Once inside they went to a fenced-in bicycle storage area with the intent to cut the lock. Security personnel noticed the suspects in security monitors and quickly ran them off. The suspects also abandoned three bicycles they were riding. Nothing was stolen during the incident. Police were able to recover the security footage for evidence.
Bike-thief makes of with Trek bicycle
A Ballard man is missing his Trek bicycle after a burglar broke into a storage area of an apartment complex located on the 800 block of N.W. 49th St. On the night of Oct. 24 a burglar cut the padlock of the shed to gain access. Once inside, the suspect cut the chain lock that secured the complainant’s bicycle. The complainant said that he found his bicycle gone the following day. Nothing else was taken from the shed. There was no security footage of the incident, and no fingerprints were recovered. Police did not report the estimated value of the bicycle.
