Door kicked in, till money taken

A business residing on the 300 block of N.W. 85th Street was burglarized on Nov. 12. The business owner told police that he locked up the night before, and when he came to work the following day the main door to the business had been kicked in. The business shares the same building as other businesses and the door was off a main hallway. The business owner said that the cash register had been disturbed and $200 was missing from the till. Officers were unable to recover any fingerprints, and there was no security footage of the incident. The estimated loss, including damage to the door, is believed to be $600.

Man looses MacBook Pro; suspect confused about umbrella

A Ballard man is missing a laptop after a burglary occurred at the 1000 block of 14th Avenue N.W. on Nov. 14. The complainant told police that he forgot his backpack in the lobby of his apartment building earlier that day. The bag contained his MacBook Pro. When he realized he forgot his bag, he went back and found it gone. A witness told police that a Hispanic man around age 20 entered the building and was walking the halls. The entry door was unlocked. When confronted the man said that he was lost and looking for a friend. He was acting erratic and asked the witness how to open the umbrella he was carrying. The witness asked him to leave and when he did she locked the entryway door. She could not recall if he was carrying the complainant’s backpack. Police searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

Burglar makes off with $100 in coins

Police were called to the 300 block of 54th Street N.W. on Nov. 13 for a burglary in progress. The business owner called after the janitor of the building noticed the alarm had been tripped. Police checked the area and found a side window had been pried open and smashed. Officers entered the building and did not find the suspect. They noticed that the coin cache had been pried open and the coins were missing. Police estimated the loss was around $100 in coins.
