The King County Medical Examiners Office has released the name and cause of death of a man found at Golden Gardens Park on Jan. 6.

According to investigators, Martin Peden, 35, died of thermal burns, and his death has been classified as a suicide.

Seattle Police and Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene at around 7:30 a.m. after they received a report of a body found near a fire pit on the beach.

KOMO News initially reported that the body was decomposed; however, SPD confirmed that man was dead when they arrived and that he had not been there very long.

Detective Patrick Michaud of SPD reported that once the identity of the man was confirmed they were able to determine his address.

Investigators have ruled out foul play.
