Backdoor man takes tools, leaves raincoat
A man is missing tools after his garage on the 400 block of N.W. 42nd Street was burglarized on Jan. 22. The complainant told police that the day before he reported the burglary he witnessed a white male in his 20s walk through his yard. The complainant heard the suspect try and open the back door to his home. When he went to investigate he saw the man walking toward his garage. The complainant did not want to confront the man. The next day the complainant checked his garage and noticed a window had been broken. There was a yellow raincoat over the glass. The complainant believed the suspect covered his hand with the coat and punched the window. Tools and miscellaneous items were taken from the garage. Police were unable to recover any fingerprints.
Suspect breaks into house, takes nothing
A Ballard man is getting an alarm system after his home at the 1200 block of Ninth Avenue was broken into. The complainant called police on Jan. 28 after he discovered the lock to the main door had been tampered with. The complainant said he is not living at the home because its being renovated. His contractor first noticed that the lock had been tampered with. He also noticed pry marks on the doorframe. The complainant said it looked as if the suspect tried to put the lock back together. Despite there being many tools in the house, the complainant said nothing was taken. Police did not recover any fingerprints at the scene. The complainant told police he would be installing an alarm system.
