Wet bandit makes off with contractor’s tools
A contractor is missing his power tools after a burglary occurred at a job site located on the 1200 block of Seventh Avenue N.W. on Feb. 3. The complainant called police after he arrived to the site and found the garage door opened and his tools missing from the second floor. He was doing contract work for the owner. The work included tile. He noticed that the floor was still wet from his wet saw. He thought this indicated the suspect had been there just hours before the incident. Police found pry marks at the front door of the residence, and they assumed that was the entry point for the burglary. They dusted for latent fingerprints but none were recovered. The contractor’s estimated loss is $1,800.
Burglaries at two Ballard businesses
A suspect’s plan to break into a Ballard business located on the 5400 block of Ballard Avenue N.W. was foiled by a gate. On the morning of Feb.5 police were called after a business owner found the gate to his business badly damaged. He noticed pry marks near the lock. The lock was disabled but the suspect was unable to enter the building. Police reported that the burglary matched the method of a similar burglary that occurred across the street that same night. No fingerprints were recovered at the scene.
Biking burglar takes business lock box
A Ballard business owner is looking for an attempted burglar on a bike after his business was disturbed on Feb. 4. The complainant arrived to his business located on the 700 block of Third Avenue N.W. that morning and noticed the exterior lock box was missing. The lock box contained the key for the deadbolt to the door. He believes a white male bicyclist was involved in the crime because the complainant saw a suspect bike passed the business many times as he waited for police to arrive. Police have no further leads to the crime.
