Man saves two-year-old, gets assaulted
Police responded to a fight report between two men at a restaurant on the 400 block of North 36th Street on May 2. When police arrived they found the victim, a middle aged male, being treated by Seattle Fire Department. The man had an ice pack pressed to his face where there was swelling and a cut above his left eye. He told police that he arrived at the restaurant and saw a two-year-old girl near the entryway of the store. She started walking out toward traffic on the street. The victim ran after her and walked her back inside. He asked for her parents and eventually found them at the far side of the restaurant. He told them what happened and advised them to keep a closer watch over their daughter. The mother seemed to be annoyed by what the victim said. He walked away and found a seat in the restaurant. Minutes later the husband of the mother walked up to the man and accosted him. He asked the victim, “"Are you a tough guy?" and cursed at him. The victim pushed the man back, and the suspect punched the victim in the face. Then the suspect pulled the man’s shirt up from behind him, over his face, which bound the victim’s arms. The suspect punched him multiple times in the face before other patrons broke up the fight. Then the man ran outside and paced back and forth on the sidewalk before fleeing eastbound toward Fremont Avenue North. Police corroborated the victim’s story with multiple witnesses. They asked the restaurant manager for the security tapes, but he said he didn’t have access. Police derived part of the suspect’s name from his bill, which was paid with his credit card.
