Officers arrested a man suspected in a string of car prowls throughout the Ballard neighborhood Monday.
A 29-year-old woman called 911 Monday morning after she discovered the back window of her Honda Accord had been smashed while parked in a garage in the 2400 block of Northwest Market Street. The woman told officers the suspect took her hairdressing tools for work and left behind a tire iron. The officer looked at the surveillance video from the garage and saw a man who had draped himself in a San Francisco Giants flag breaking the window before running off.
The officer recognized the suspect from descriptions given earlier in the day and worked with additional officers who knew the 29-year-old suspect from past contacts. The officers found the man in the Ballard Commons area later in the day and were able to take him into custody.
Officers booked the man into King County jail for car prowl. Officers will continue to work with prosecutors to determine if any additional charges will be filed.
