Fight breaks out on NW Market St
At 3:27 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, officers were flagged down in the 2200 block of NW Market St. about a fight across the street. One man was on the sidewalk and another was picking items up from the ground near the victim. Officers approached the victim and found him bleeding heavily from several stab wounds on his arm, back and neck. Officers gave medical aid to the victim -- and detained the other man, who had a knife in his hand. The man said he was waiting at a bus stop, when the victim approached and asked for a cigarette. When the man refused, the victim grabbed his last cigarette and put it in his mouth. He said that the victim began striking him in the face, and he drew his knife and stabbed the victim. When the victim was asked for his version of events, he was uncooperative. He requested an attorney. A witness said that both men seemed intoxicated. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. The other man was taken to King County Jail for investigation of assault. The knife was seized and placed into evidence.
Garage burglarized
Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of NW 56 St. around 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7 to investigate a burglary. The victim said the crime happened sometime between 10 p.m. the night before and 8 a.m. that morning. The garage door was wide open and items that had been left by the entry were stolen. The woman could not remember if she left the garage open or not. There were no signs of force.
Burglar arrested on NW 65 St
At 6:50 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, officers received a call that a witness saw a man kick in a door in the 1500 block of NW 65 St. and enter into the building. About 10 minutes later, officers arrived at the residence and searched the perimeter. A neighbor approached them to ask what was happening. Officers explained the situation, and the neighbor said that he saw an individual leaving the area before they came to the scene. The suspect was across the street. The man denied being near the residence. Officers checked his records and found that he had a misdemeanor warrant for theft. They arrested the man and searched him, finding two credit cards that did not belong to him, as well as multiple knives. The suspect was booked into King County Jail.
Burglary on 7 Ave NW
When officers arrived in the 6200 block of 7 Ave NW around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 4, they were met at the front of the property by the victim. He explained that someone broke into his house on Tuesday night, Jan. 2, using a pry tool to force open a bedroom window. The burglar took tools from inside the house. The victim found a bike on his sidewalk, and officers found that it was stolen.
