A power outage caused by a fire in a substation hit the Magnolia and Ballard areas on Friday evening around 9:40pm. Areas south of the ship canal west of the Ballard Bridge were also affected.

The outage began with around 3700 people in the dark reaching nearly 12,000 at its peak and by 10:30 or so 1200 got their lights back.

City Light said there was no estimate on when the fix would be complete.
