Shoplifter puts up a fight
Officers were alerted to a fight in progress in the 8300 block of 15 Ave NW around 4:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26. When they arrived on the scene, they found a man in handcuffs on the ground. The loss prevention officer said he saw the suspect enter a business nearby and begin concealing bags with food. The suspect, who had been formally trespassed from the store in the past, was also eating food. When the victim tried to address the suspect, the man took off running outside of the store, without paying for any merchandise. The victim chased the man and caught up with him. They two began fighting. The suspect punched the victim in the chest. Eventually, a bystander stepped in and helped stop the suspect. The victim had several abrasions on his forearms and pain in his chest. The suspect admitted that he had swallowed a small bag of dope. Officers searched him and found a counterfeit $50 bill and a credit card belonging to someone else. The suspect was placed under arrest for investigation of robbery.
Officers find trespassers in abandoned home
A caller alerted police to a smoke coming from the chimney of an abandoned house located in the 4300 block of 6 Ave NW around 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26. By the time officers arrived, the fire had been extinguished. Two individuals were inside the house and a third fled the scene. Official paperwork from the City of Seattle was hanging on the front door declaring the house condemned, and there were no trespassing signs around the house. The two suspects inside the house told officers that they were given permission to live in the home, but they understood that they needed to leave. They agreed to leave by noon. Officers ran their names and discovered that they had been trespassed from the property before.
Laundry room burglarized
Around 1:40 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, officers were dispatched to investigate the burglary of a laundry room in a building located in the 1500 block of NW 51 St. The caller thought that the room had been left unlocked overnight and that subjects were able to use tools to cut into storage units and burglarize them. One tenant arrived on the scene and told officers that she saw two subjects walking out of the laundry room with her luggage. She told them that she would call police, and they took off running. Officers found that six different storage units had been burglarized on the property. There were no security cameras.
Burglar steals gym bag
At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, officers arrived in the 7000 block of 9 Ave NW to investigate a burglary. The victim explained that the last time he had been in his detached garage was on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Then earlier in the day on Jan. 21, he found the rear door of his garage unlocked. When he went inside, the space had been ransacked. His gym bag was the only item that he noticed was missing. There was no evidence of forced entry.
