Ballard blasted Bishop Blanchet by a 51-30 score Thursday to capture fifth place in the Metro League girls basketball championship tournament.

Next up for the Beavers after the win in the Nathan Hale gymnasium is next week's Sea-King District tournament.

Both West Seattle teams did not end their Metro League tournament stays on so sweet of a note, losing their respective games for third place to finish fourth.

The Wildcats were edged by Cleveland by a 47-44 score at Chief Sealth on the boys side Thursday as the girls were defeated by Garfield, 56-47, at Nathan Hale.

The teams both advance into next week's respective Sea-King tournaments as well.
