Ballard High School Chamber Orchestra one of ten schools invited to perform at the Orchestra Cup National Championship in NYC
Families are invited to a free preview performance on February 26 of the symphony that the Ballard High School Chamber Orchestra will perform at the Orchestra Cup in NYC.
The Ballard High School Chamber Orchestra has been invited to perform at the Orchestra Cup National Championship at Lincoln Center on March 3. They are one of only ten schools in the country to be selected, and this is the first time that any BHS orchestra has been invited to the event. The performances are adjudicated by renowned orchestral professionals and educators from around the nation. The winner of the competition will be awarded the prestigious Orchestra Cup.
The preview concert will feature the entire Shostakovich Chamber Symphony, op. 110a, from his 8th string quartet. The performance will also include two major solos, from violinist Ethan Doshi and cellist Ellery Haak.
Performance Details
The performance will be on Monday, February 26, at the Black Box Theater at Ballard High School, 1418 NW 65th Street, Seattle, Washington, 98117. The concert begins at 7:30 PM. Mr. Eric Muhs will also host a live broadcast of the performance on community radio station KBFG 107.3 FM. Admission to the preview concert is free.
