Dumpster sparks debate
Officers headed to a commercial building in the 1700 block of NW Market St. around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, after receiving a report that a transient woman was going through the business’ dumpster. The man said he was not afraid of her. He told officers that he has seen the woman before. Officers searched the area for the vehicle but were unable to locate it.
Trespasser threatens property owner on 65th St.
When officers arrived in the 2500 block of NW 65 St. around 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, they were met by the property owner. He told them that he arrived to his trio of condos, which were under construction and unoccupied, and saw damage to an interior doorframe, connecting the house to the garage. When he went into the garage, he found a man in the closet. The property owner asked the trespasser to leave. The suspect threatened to kill him and said he had a knife in his pocket. The man left and headed east. The suspect was not able to access the rest of the home. The contractor said replacing the damaged door would cost about $1,000. Officers searched the area and found a man matching the description of the suspect at the intersection of 22 Ave NW and NW 58 St. The victim was unable to positively identify the man as the same one who he had confronted earlier. Officers told the man he was free to go.
