Man assaults panhandler
Around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of NW 85th St. after receiving a report of an assault. The Seattle Fire Department was already at the location, treating a male victim for a laceration to his head. The victim told police that he was pan-handling , when a man approached and asked if the victim could watch his stuff. When the victim said no, the suspect struck him in the head with a sock stuffed with a hard object. The victim immediately noticed a sharp pain and blood started running down his head. The suspect fled the area. The officers left the victim to try to find the suspect. Two citizens flagged them down and pointed them to an alleyway. The officers found the suspect running there. Officers told him to get on the ground, and he did. They took him into custody and found the sock with a rock inside in the alley.
Attempted burglary at construction site
A victim of an attempted burglary called police around 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12. The crime occurred at a construction site in the 7700 block of Earl Ave NW. Officers found a damaged window. It appeared that the thief tried to pry it open but was not able to get inside the home. The victim said there were foot prints on the front porch.
