On March 19, 2022, Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit Plus One Foundation will host Stand Up! For Plus One, a comedy night gala at the Ballard Elks Lodge #827 to benefit people with neurological conditions in Seattle and beyond, including people experiencing the neurological effects of long COVID. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will feature local comedians, silent and live auctions, refreshments, and prizes. Tickets can be purchased online, with individual in-person tickets $75, an eight-person table $500, and virtual admission a $25 suggested donation. In-person attendees must be aged 18 or older.
All funds raised during the event will go toward grants and programs designed to serve people with neurological diseases and disorders, of which there are more than 600 different conditions, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis. Globally, nearly one in six people experience a neurological disease or disorder.
The comedy line-up will feature headliner Meaghan Gross alongside fellow Seattle-area comedians Cara Rosellini and Travis Sherer.
For over 10 years, Plus One Foundation has increased access to life-changing grants and programs for people of all ages and backgrounds with neurological conditions in the Seattle area and beyond. Amid the pandemic, it has helped people who long COVID access therapies and services otherwise out of reach financially and launched Plus One Pals to connect individuals – often those in long-term care facilities experiencing isolation – with pen pals who send thoughtful, handwritten letters each month.
