Archery equipment stolen from Burien Boy Scout Camp
Organizers of a Boy Scouts of America camp being held at Camp Schoenwald (behind Sylvester Middle School) were greeted with an unpleasant discovery on Tuesday, July 19. According to Sgt. John Urquhart with the King County Sheriff's Office, Cub Scout Pack 793 parked their trailer full of archery equipment on Sylvester Middle School grounds. When staff arrived the next morning to set up the archery range they discovered someone had broken the lock to the trailer and stolen boys' compound bows, arrows, a drill, a generator and a sledge hammer with a total loss of around $1700. No arrests have been made, according to Sgt. Urquhart. Anyone interested in donating equipment or funds to help replenish their stolen supplies can contact him at 793arrows@gmail.com. Boy Scout staff at the camp said the district office was able to bring in reserve archery equipment to keep the kids shooting with little disruption at the camp. Contact the Burien Police Department at 206-296-3333 if you have information on the burglary.
