They got the scoring started early when they drove the ball down field 52 yards. It was topped off by a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Ian Nobmann to give them the lead and they never looked back. They went for the two-point conversion and succeeded, pushing the score to 8-0. Highline spent the first half going three and out on every possession, having to punt the ball back to Kennedy. On the offensive side, the Lancers continued to make big plays the whole game. Senior running back D.J. Hardy pushed their lead to 15-0 on a 53-yard rushing touchdown. On Kennedy Catholic’s next possession, quarterback Jason Thompson connected on a pass to Drew Thompson for yet another touchdown.
Scoring continued for the Lancers in the second quarter as Ian Nobmann rushed for another touchdown, pushing the lead to 28-0. Kennedy Catholic once again scored on their next possession when Orion Prescott had a huge run and went 73 yards into the end zone. The half ended with Kennedy Catholic on top with a huge 47-0 lead.
Highline was unable to get any offense going the whole game, making only six first downs the entire game. The Lancers big play offense continued in the third quarter when sophomore Colin Cossette rushed in for a 61-yard touchdown. After Kennedy Catholic scored again on a two-point conversion the score was 55-0. The Lancers' offense slowed down a bit near the end of the game as they were able to put in some of their younger players, gaining them some game experience.
The scoring finally stopped at 62 for Kennedy Catholic. Highline was able to get one touchdown and a two-point conversion to avoid the shut out, but this game was all Lancers.
Coach Bob Bourgette said after the game he was proud of how his offense played. They had a successful day running the ball and were “clicking “on all levels.
He also added, “It’s fun playing in front of a huge crowd. It’s a great memory that will stick with the kids the rest of their lives".
