On Nov. 5, 2011, at 2:40 AM, Jayme Thomas was shot and killed as she sat in the backseat of a vehicle in the 800 block of Redondo Way South in Des Moines.
Surveillance footage of a suspected vehicle and person of interest of the case was released on Nov. 19 with hopes the public can help bring the suspects in her case to justice.
The 24-year-old male victim who was also shot but sustained non-life threatening injuries has been cooperating with police, but asked not to be identified, according to Des Moines Police.

The Des Moines Police Department has been diligently following up on crime tips, processing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing surveillance video from various businesses within the Redondo Beach area. As part of our investigation, we have obtained a video from the Shell Station located at 29600 Block of Pacific Hwy S which shows the two suspect vehicles 30 minutes prior to the shooting. We have also obtained a video of a person of interest who is a driver of one of the suspect vehicles. The Des Moines Police Department is requesting the public’s help in identifying this person of interest, people associated with the vehicles, or anybody with information in regards to murder of Jayme Thomas to contact the Des Moines Police Department.
Person of interest:
Asian or Native American Male, early 20’s, long ponytail (mid-back), wearing Express jacket and yellow “L-A” hat.
Updated suspect and vehicle descriptions:
Suspect 1: Asian Male, early 20’s, 5-07 tall, stocky build, with short or shaved hair.
Suspect 2: Black male, early 20’s, 5-08 tall, medium build, with short black hair.
Vehicle 1: 1990-1995, black Honda Civic 2 door with flat gray front & rear bumpers, and black & chrome after market rims.
Vehicle 2: Lowered 1990-1995, flat black or primer black Honda Civic 2 door with black spoke rims, large chrome muffler, no front license plate, tinted rear windows, and has a poor quality body work near the rear driver’s side wheel well.
