Shop local and enjoy free holiday activities at Burien’s Winterfest, a celebration for the whole family on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Burien’s holiday-bedecked streets will be hopping with live singing by the Marvista Elementary School choir, in-store specials, horse-and-carriage rides, Santa Bags filled with goodies from local businesses, holiday crafts for kids, hayrides, hot treats and photos with reindeer or jolly old Saint Nick, even for the family pooch.
Support the local economy and save money, time and fuel by shopping in Burien. Take advantage of Winterfest in-store specials and gift-wrapping at some local shops. Burien’s small businesses are the perfect place to find unique presents ranging from affordable fine wines to the best in pet care, kitchenware, hand-beaded jewelry, cute and comfortable shoes, facials and more. Beat the chill with free hot treats like cocoa and spiced cider at various shops.
Old Man Christmas and his canine alter-ego, SantaDog, will pose with humans and hounds for free photos from 10 to 4 p.m. Humans can join the jolly old elf in front of the camera at Prudential Northwest Realty Associates, 930 S.W. 152nd St. Canines get their chance with SantaDog at The Mark Restaurant & Bar, 918 S.W. 152nd St.
From noon to 4 p.m., cuddle up to a reindeer for free pictures at Goodie Gumdrops, 816 S.W. 152nd St. Santa will also drop by Goodie Gumdrops for photos from Dec. 1 until a few days before Christmas. Contact Goodie Gumdrops at 838-1099 for dates and times.
Another new addition to Winterfest, Ivar’s will be serving cups of clam chowder for a discounted price with proceeds going to local food banks. Ivar’s will be stationed next to Prudential Northwest Realty Associates at 930 S.W. 152nd St.
Festival-goers have a chance to win one of several Santa Bags, each stuffed with items from local businesses. The younger set can exercise their artistic skills with free holiday crafts for kids from noon to 4 p.m. at Collins Chiropractic, 619 S.W. 152nd St.
Rest those weary feet with two different free modes of transportation along Southwest 152nd Street. Try a hayride from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Or catch a horse-and-carriage ride from 1 to 4 p.m. between Olde Burien and Burien Town Square.
