14-month-old boy sprayed with glass during drive by shooting
A white four-door Ford Explorer or pickup truck drove past a house in the 14200 block of 8th Ave. S. in Burien Sunday, Dec. 4th around 2 p.m. and opened fire. A 14-month-old boy inside the home was sprayed by pulverized glass during the drive by. He wasn't hospitalized, but his mother was left very shaken. She said she was spending a quiet day at home with her little boy and her mother when the bullets came blasting through the walls and windows. “We just heard pop-pop and I just grabbed my son and hit the floor."
Investigators don't believe the shooting was random because the vehicle had to drive down a dead end and turn around to reach the house. The boy's mother says she knows no one who would want to hurt her or her family," The vehicle had one distinctive characteristic, it was very low in the back as though it was carrying something very heavy. If anyone sees it, they are warned not to approach the vehicle and to call 911.
Theft ring sentencing
A Sea-Tac couple has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for operating an organized theft ring in South King County. They paid others to steal items, which the couple later resold. Sara Kong, 41 and Chanthou Rim, 39 were each sentenced to 32 months in prison for six counts of first-degree attempted trafficking in stolen property and one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit organized retail theft.
They had pleaded guilty to the charges in October. The couple directed others to steal items from retail stores and resold the merchandise to local markets and sent other goods to Cambodia.
About five million dollars worth of items is believed to have been stolen from local retail stores. In May, ICE agents investigated Rim and Kong for shipping stolen items. The agents searched a shipping container at the Port of Seattle bound for Cambodia. They found large quantities of personal, health-care and cleaning products that were not listed on the manifest for the container.
Missing cat found
A cat (Wenty), who escaped from his crate at Sea-Tac Airport, was found safe and sound. Missing Pet Partnership (MPP) says it’s a mystery how “Wenty” escaped. Wenty was being transported on a direct flight from Tucson to Seattle The crate was secure, and his owner Ashley, watched as the TSA agent sealed the front door of the carrier with tape.
Baggage handlers in Tucson said Wenty was in the carrier when loaded onto the plane, but when he landed in Seattle, the cage was empty and one of the plastic snaps on the back of the crate was unsnapped. MPP volunteers conducted a 3 ½-hour search of Sea-Tac baggage area and tarmac and used a cat detection dogs but came up empty.
On Monday around 1 a.m., a baggage handler noticed a pair of white paws sticking out from under a conveyor belt.
