Colleen Gaffney, owner, Goodie Gumdrops Toys, Games, Books & Candy, 816 SW 152nd St., was "mobbed ", but in a good way, today. She was thrilled. That shop was chosen in the Cash Mob Burien event on Intl. Cash Mob Day. Cash Mobs is a new movement supporting local ma & pa businesses. A Cash Mob is a Flash Mob, but instead of dancing Cash Mobbers join together and each spend $20 at a local business. Discover Burien's new Exec. Dir., Gina Bourdage, and Board VP, Lori A. Alden of Prudential, met about 30 folks at Bison Creek Pizza. Bourdage's mother announced the surprise location, and they fled for the toy shop.
"I've been here six years in April," said Gaffney. "They chose us. I think it's so great for the town and I hope we are able to do this with other businesses every month. We have a great retail core and I think the economy's been tough on a lot of us here. But a lot of us are weathering it through and we just need our local residents to remember to shop local when they can."
She carries the Sea Town Lax Socks and said they are the hottest thing around right now. They were sold out today but expect a new shipment Monday.
"This is bright pink noisy putty that makes fart noises, for my friend's daughter who's got a great sense of humor," said Bourdage, describing one of her favorite purchases at the shop. "We are one of the only towns left with a locally-owned
toy store and we don't want them to go anywhere."

CASH MOB BURIEN TO INVADE LOCAL BUSINESS
Cash Mob Burien will be holding their inaugural event, “Mob” Saturday, March 24.
Mob Details are as follows
3:00 - pm Be at Bison Creek Pizza in Burien.
Bring $20 Cash (plastic payments work too.)
“Mobbers” will be wearing the official Cash Mob Burien Arm/Headbands to let others in the community know “WE MEAN BUSINESS”. No later than 3:05 we depart to the selected Cash Mob Burien Location. “Mobbers” will have 30 minutes to shop, and an additional 15 minutes to finish final purchases.
3:45 - 4:00 pm we depart our location and trek back to Bison Creek Pizza to raise a glass and share a slice for a Cash Mob well done.
