HomeTask is new business face in downtown Burien

There is a new face in downtown Burien, and many people are wondering who HomeTask is and what they do? You may have walked by their new office at 611 SW 152nd, which previously housed Jorstad Jewelers for nearly 50 years.
HomeTask is a company started by Jerrod Sessler in 2002. According to Jerrod, “HomeTask is a web site that anyone can visit to arrange for service to be done on their home or business. HomeTask is also a multi-brand franchisor of several service concepts and has over 160 locations nationwide.”
HomeTask brands currently include Freggies (organic produce delivery), Lawn Army (lawn care service), Pet Butler (America’s pet waste cleanup) and Yellow Van Handyman (your pro handyman). HomeTask also provides a service network that connects with other businesses in your area. No matter what the job is, HomeTask wants to help you get it done and they have built a web system to make that happen, according to Jerrod. Visit HomeTask.com to learn more and sign up to enjoy their features.
Sessler said he started HomeTask because he “saw a need for a service based organization that makes the path easy for people to get stuff done. Amazon and eBay have done a great job simplifying retail but HomeTask attacks the same problem on the service side. HomeTask makes it easy for people to get stuff fixed, serviced, cleaned or repaired.”
HomeTask has big plans to continue to grow and “occupy additional spaces in Burien in the coming years and may, at some point, even build a multi-use building that would be of great value to the city and to the community,” Sessler said.
Even with these plans of growing and becoming the Amazon.com of service, HomeTask still has a strong root in Burien community.
“I moved to Burien as a little boy in 1974. I grew up in Burien, attended school in Burien, had a paper route in Burien and, eventually, I bought my first house in Burien. I have traveled around the world multiple times, and I still very much enjoy Burien. I feel Burien is one of the best suburbs in the country to live in....Burien has great character, history, events, people and food! Burien is just a fun place to be. We moved locations to get more engaged in the city of Burien with the people of Burien,” Sessler said.
HomeTask wants to help people in Burien get things done at the same time as contributing to the community. Sessler sees this happening because “HomeTask is very unique to Burien. We do not rely on the support from Burienites. We draw revenue from around the country to assist in supporting the people of Burien, growing Burien and making Burien a great place to live, work and play.”
