Man with warrants runs from police
A man walking in the area of 400 block S.W. 152nd Street attempted to run from police. When he got caught he tried to fight with the Deputy and armed himself with a weapon. Police found a bat/club and a knife on his person. The man ran because he has outstanding felony warrants. Now he faces new charges that include aggravated assault.
Bold escape to Japan from Sea Tac
King County prosecutors claim Ryoko Fukuda absconded with her daughter the day she was supposed to hand over the girl’s Japanese passport. According to charging documents, the girl’s father rushed to Sea-Tac Airport in an attempt to retrieve her. But prosecutors say Fukuda and the child were already flying to Japan. Writing the court, Senior Deputy Prosecutor David Martin noted Fukuda had been ordered not to take the girl out of the country hours before she did exactly that.
Tukwila teen charged with first-degree manslaughter, unlawful possession of firearm
Kendric Tray Carter, a Tukwila teen, was charged Aug. 14 with first-degree manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm. Prosecutors say the 18-year-old was playing with a handgun inside a relative's apartment early August 1 when the gun went off, hitting 19-year-old Gerald Rogers in the chest. When deputies arrived a witness said several men in the apartment had been "playing a game with the gun and pointing it at each other" prior to the shooting, according to court documents. Later that day, Carter turned himself in to the sheriff's office. He told detectives he had been playing with the gun when it went off, but denied pointing it at Rogers. Detectives pointed out that the bullet went straight through Rogers' chest and the gun would have been pointed directly at him. After reminding him of that fact, detectives say Carter got angry and refused to answer more questions. Carter is set to be arraigned August 27 in King County.
