Boys swimming
State Class 3A
Seven victories helped Kennedy Catholic secure a fourth-place finish in the state Class 3A boys swimming and diving meet that concluded Saturday, Feb. 16.
The action started of with the Lancers' Thane Maudslien, Tharm Sribhibhadh, Nick Dorsett and Tommy Thach winning the 200-yard medley relay in an All-American Consideration time of 1 minute, 38.38 seconds.
Maudslien later won the 100 butterfly in an All-American Automatic time of 49.76 and he took the 100 backstroke in an All-American Automatic time of 48.56.
Maudslien also teamed up with Alex Ballanger, Skylar Martens and Thach to take second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:27.47.
Thach won the 200 individual medley with an All-American Automatic time of 1:49.22 and he took the 100 free in an All-American Automatic 45.47.
Brian Donohue of the Lancers also helped the Lancers score 181 points by winning the diving competition with a score of 430.45.
Martens took 19th in the 200 free in 1:53.13 and Sribhibhadh was 23rd in the 200 IM in 2:07.33.
Nate Williams of Highline placed 16th in the 500 free in 4:57.76 and JFK's Dorsett came in 22nd in 5:16.73.
Sribhibhadh took 10th for the Lancers in the 100 breast in 1:01.24 and teammate Curtis Kasahara was 24th in that event in 1:05.79.
Sribhibhadh, Zach Zilke, Ballanger and Martens took 20th in the meet-ending 400 free relay with a time of 3:28.58.
State Class 4A
Mount Rainier finished 11th as a team in the Class 4A meet with 114 points.
Zachary Williams of the Rams took fifth in the 100 free in 48.65 and Grant Meyers took sixth in the 200 free in 1:46.03 and seventh in the 500 free in 4:48.15. Williams was also seventh in the 50 free in 22.42.
Samual McClean of Mount Rainier joined Williams, Nathan Rencher and Eric Reiff in taking eighth in the 200 free relay in 1:31.94 and Reiff, Williams, Meyers and Chris Smith were 11th in the 400 free relay in 3:18.77.
Peyton Conrad was seventh in diving with 309.20 points with Rams teammate Adam Gofkovicz 10th with a 286.00 score. Nathan DaDalto of Mount Rainier was 12th in diving with 279.80 points.
Smith placed 12th in the 100 free in 50.08 and 19th in the 100 back in 57.06 and Josh Wammer, Smith, Reiff and McClean were 22nd in the 200 medley relay in 1:46.49.
Joseph Burdine of the Rams was 23rd in the 500 free in 5:11.89.
Wrestling
State Class 2A/3A
Cale Woyvodich of Foster made it all the way to the Class 2A third place match at 113 pounds before losing to Eduardo Rodriguez of Wapato, 12-7, to finish fourth.
Sophia Munoz of Highline, meanwhile, took fifth in the girls 235-pound class. She won the fifth place match, 3-1, over Lisa Hernandez of Lynden.
Woyvodich won his first match by a 6-0 score over Spencer Wallace of Squalicum before losing to Fred Green of Orting by pin in 2:59.
He came back to score a 7-0 decision over Washougal's Wyatt Eakins and defeated Masen Adams of Black Hills, 7-5.
Woyvodich then defeated Adam Adkinson of Sedro Woolley, 11-4, to advance to the third place match.
Munoz defeated Kimiko Misioka of Fife, 8-4, to open and then lost to Akemi Schwinden of Mount Baker by pin in 3:01.
Munoz turned around to pin Cramsey-Behnke of Nooksack in 4:13 and she pinned Andrea Contreras of Warden in 4:38.
A 6-4 overtime loss to Joslyn Gillaspie of Centralia dropped her into the fifth place match.
Highline's Tyler Mosier was pinned by his first Class 3A 115-pound foe -- Kevin Del Angel of Southridge -- in 39 seconds then came back to beat Arrona of Stanwood, 4-3. He bowed out with a loss to Rowland of Decatur by pin in 4:20.
Kendall Momon of JFK lost by fall in 5:05 to Kyle Oplund of Enumclaw at 106 pounds then beat Christian Berram of Oak Harbor, 7-3, before losing to Kelso's Jared Newberg, 11-8.
Diana Prudente of Tyee lost by fall in 4:38 in her 124-pound opener and pinned Sharaya Quinn of Emerald Ridge in 4:30. She bowed out by pin in 3:07 to Sara Sanchez of Washougal.
Jack Larsen of Kennedy fell to Ryan Gabol of University in 1:12 and was pinned by Jacob Fitzgerald of Oak Harbor in 3:52 at 138 pounds, while Ryan Keo of Foster was felled by Anthony Barrera of Othello in 3:13 at 138 pounds and was pinned in 4:21 by Josh Pratt of Squalicum.
