T-Birds to host hockey playoffs

The T-Birds will host Games 3 and 4 of a first round playoff series against either the Portland Winterhawks or Kelowna Rockets.

Game 3 will be Tuesday, March 26, at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center. The T-Birds will continue the popular 2-for-Tuesday promotion for Game 3. This means all tickets will be two-for-one and all beer, soda, popcorn and hot dogs will be $2. The 2-for-Tuesday group ticket special will also apply for Game 3. Fans that buy 20 tickets will get 20 tickets FREEfor a total of 40 tickets.

Game 4 will be Wednesday, March 27, at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center. The T-Birds have a ticket special for Game 4. Fans that purchase eight premium seats will get two free tickets for total of 10 tickets to Game 4.

Celebrities gather for charity

International charity Free The Children, in partnership with Co-Title Sponsors Microsoft and Amway North America, announced the lineup of Grammy® award winners, world-renowned activists and sports icons set to inspire 15,000 youth and supporters from nearly 400 middle and high schools at the first ever We Day Seattle on Wednesday, March 27, in the KeyArena at Seattle Center.

Students can’t buy a ticket to We Day; they earn it through service by making a commitment to take action on one local and one global initiative throughout the school year, as part of the We Act program. Together, We Day and We Act provide a blueprint for raising a generation of active global citizens.

Cross country ride scheduled

Registration is now open for the American Lung Association of the Mountain Pacific’s Big Ride Across America cycling event. Participants will ride their bikes 3,300 miles over the course of seven weeks as they make their way from Seattle, Wash., to Washington, DC. The ride is fully-supported by a highly experienced professional crew and provides a unique way to see the country. Riders come from all walks of life, including students, teachers, retirees, executives, and those who just want to experience the ride of a lifetime!

“The Big Ride Across America is a wonderful opportunity for many people to accomplish a major goal in their lives. Doing the ride in honor of those who can’t makes it even more special,” said Renée Klein, President and CEO of the American Lung Association of the Mountain Pacific.

“There are many reasons I am proud to be participating in the Big Ride Across America,” said Tim Landwerlen, an active duty Marine from Indianapolis, Ind. “I am riding as someone who has successfully quit smoking. I am also participating in honor of my youngest son, who was born with underdeveloped lungs and continues to struggle with lung health issues. I am also very proud of my mother, who has committed to quit smoking when I depart on this incredible journey.”

The Big Ride will depart from Seattle on June 17 and arrive in Washington, DC on August 3, 2013. Participants will travel an average of 83 miles per day through a total of 12 states and the District of Columbia.

Funds raised by participants will support the American Lung Association of the Mountain Pacific’s mission of saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. As part of their preparation, participants receive ongoing fundraising, training and logistical support.
