Two District 7 Little League baseball tournaments are closing in on championship games for Saturday, while two others are just getting underway.
West Seattle has already earned its way into this weekend's championship in both the Majors age 11-12 tournament and the age 9-10 tournament and must be defeated twice to be eliminated.
West Seattle plays the winner of the 6 p.m. Friday game between PacWest and Renton in the Majors action at Bar-S Fields in West Seattle.
The age 9-10 West Seattle squad awaits the winner of Friday's 6 p.m. game between South Highline National and PacWest.
Both championships are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Bar-S followed by any if-necessary games at 1 p.m. Saturday.
PacWest opened the 9-10 tournament with a 1-0 win over South Highline American before falling to South Highline National, 18-6. West Seattle then defeated National, 9-8, in Wednesday's winner's bracket final.
In the loser's bracket, Renton ousted American, 13-3, on Monday and PacWest beat Rainier District, 9-3, on Tuesday. PacWest was a 12-9 winner over Renton on Thursday.
In last Saturday's Majors openers, Southwest of White Center lost to Renton, 1-0, and PacWest defeated Seattle Central, 8-3, with National winning by a 7-2 score over Rainier District.
West Seattle received a first round by and opened with a 13-12 victory over Renton on Sunday. West Seattle then won Wednesday's winner's bracket final, 1-0, over PacWest -- a 5-3 winner over National on Sunday.
In the loser's bracket, Rainier District won, 14-12, over Seattle Central Sunday before losing to Renton, 11-0, Tuesday. National won, 1-0, over Southwest Monday and Renton edged National by a 6-5 score Thursday.
Two more tournaments open this Saturday at the home complex of the PacWest team located on the border between SeaTac and Burien off Des Moines Memorial Parkway.
West Seattle and South Highline National open against each other in the four-team Juniors age 13-14 tournament at 10 a..m. Saturday, then PacWest plays Renton at 1 p.m.
The winners meet in the winner's bracket final at 10 a.m. Sunday with the winner of that game going to Tuesday's 6 p.m. first championship. Any second championship would be played at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The loser's bracket final is at 6 p.m. Monday.
The age 10-11 tournament also starts at 10 a.m. this Saturday with two games at once. PacWest plays West Seattle in one game and Renton plays Rainier District in the other.
The West Seattle-PacWest winner plays South Highline National at 1 p.m. Sunday while the Renton-Rainier District winner plays Seattle Central at the same time.
Sunday's winner's meet in the winner's bracket final at 6 p.m. Tuesday, with the first championship at 6 p.m. Thursday and any second game played at 6 p.m. Friday.
The loser's bracket final is at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
