Jim Langston is running for office against a dead man and wants your vote
Mon, 10/14/2013
Jim Langston is a candidate for Position 2 in King County Water District #54 in Des Moines and wants your vote.
His name is not on the ballot because he is running as a write-in candidate. The only name on the ballot is that of John Rosentangle, who died in August after the ballots were printed.
By law, the candidate who receives the most votes, dead or alive, is the winner.
To vote for Langston in this election, voters must fill in the write-in space and enter the name "Jim Langston" on the accompanying line. Otherwise, voters will be deferring the power of their vote to the district offices of the county council, Langston stated in a press release.
Langston noted that he has attended all of the commission meetings for the past three months and helped load cases of water into people's cars during the recent water crisis in Des Moines.
Langston is a fourth generation Des Moines resident. He is a retired public school educator, is vice-president and program chair of the Des Moines Historical Society. He is also a member of several other boards and commissions.
