King County Sheriff’s deputy wounds suspected Burglar in SeaTac
According to the King County Sheriff’s Department, a suspected burglar is in the hospital after being shot by a deputy after a fired Taser failed to stop the man. The incident took place just before noon on July 29th on the 4600 block of South 176th Street when a woman called 911 and told the operator that she was hiding in the upstairs of her home with her 3-year-old daughter because two men were breaking into their house. When deputies arrived on the scene, they saw two men flee from the home. When confronted, one of the suspects charged a deputy. The deputy fired a Taser at the suspect, but when the jolt of electricity did not stop the suspect’s charging on the deputy, the officer fired one round at the man, striking him in the abdomen. The wounded suspect was taken to an unnamed local hospital where he was immediately taken into surgery. No information about the status of the suspect has been released. The second suspect, who was described as a black male in his early 20s with a shaved head and white t-shirt, escaped the scene. A helicopter and k-9 units were brought in to search for the man but the search was called off before 2:30 p.m. with no results.
Burien Police investigate possible attempted arson in Olde Burien business
Police are currently investigating a break-in that took place at the Natural Pet Pantry in Olde Burien during the early morning hours of Friday, July 25th. The suspects are believed to have forced their way into the business through a locked back door and trashed the place while looking for money before possibly attempting to burn the building down. The building, located on the 800 block of S.W. 152nd Street, is the home to Natural Pet Pantry, Salon 828, the Burien Arts’ gallery, Burien Books and Star Fresh Market. When employees arrived on the scene to open the store, they found the cash register thrown on the floor, draws and cabinets torn apart and large amounts of damage caused by an attempt to start a fire using the shop’s stove. Police have yet to release information about their investigation. Natural Pet Pantry has remained open during normal business hours despite the break-in.
