This year the Burien Bite was a success in multiple ways. The best $2.00 I ever spent.
The food prepared by these local restaurants was such a fantastic way to bring awareness to their cuisine, the funds collected will be supporting several charities and the community coming together to mingle was priceless!
It was alot of fun strolling the neighborhood with my beau Karel, having some delicious nibbles along the way on a pleasant spring evening.
I had my favorites, though I didn’t always agree with some of my neighbors.
The Burien Bites 2015
1st Place: Maven Mercantile ( two years they have pulled out the win.)
2nd Place: Mark Restaurant & Bar
3rd Place: Oishi Sushi
My personal favorite dish of the evening was the Creme Brulee bite offered by Mark Restaurant...it didn’t hurt they also paired it with a prime rib and horseradish bite along with a BEER!
There was very good organization by some of the participating restaurants, The Greek House, Australian Pie Company, Oishi Sushi, Marlaina’s & Frankie’s were all ready to serve their bite quickly & efficiently. ( also some of my favorite bites) Some fell short this year with long waiting times or poor offerings... I can’t tell you if the 909 Coffee & Wine was good because they ran out quickly.
Most the establishments were very gracious and welcoming. Frankie’s management even gave me a tour of their location amidst remodeling. ( Opening proposed May 1st)
The gathering @ HomeTask office following the event was tremendous, really the highlight of the event. There was Jerrod Sessler pouring wine and serving beautiful brownie bites provided by The Guest House B&B. Andrea Reay and Nathan Miller from Discover Burien along with Nikki Sessler were all helping participants navigate the voting process. The many faithful volunteers with Debra George always at the forefront, made this a very special evening in Burien.
