‘Abstract by Nature’ is theme for Burien Arts Gallery solo show
Mon, 04/27/2015
“The paintings selected for this exhibit at the Burien Arts Gallery are visual evidence of things I’ve seen in the natural world, even though they may not depict the realistic appearance of their source,” Becky explains.
“In fact, it’s not my intention to paint ‘reality’ but to capture the essence of a memory. These paintings have as their source a vision of nature that has been internalized, distilled and held onto as a kind of visual memory, and finally expressed as a painting that is ‘Abstract by Nature.’”
Meet Becky at the Opening Reception Friday, May 8, 5-8 p.m. at the Burien Arts Gallery, 826 S.W. 152nd St.
The exhibit ends Sunday, May 31.
Becky will also exhibit contemporary sculpture pieces.
Works by Liz Simpson and Marta Creswell will also be featured in the Artists United room at the Gallery. Both artists like to experiment with different art forms, including mixed media and collage.
The Burien Arts Gallery is open noon-6 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday and noon-4 p.m. on Sunday. The Gallery is closed Monday and Tuesday.
