Smarty Pants
Michelle Braasch and Tim Ptak, owners of Smarty Pants restaurant and bar in Georgetown and the restaurant Hudson on E. Marginal Way are busy remodeling the space behind the Grand Central Bakery to bring a new version of Smarty Pants to Burien. While Georgetown decor is dedicated to motorbikes, the new Burien location will feature a theme based on classic cars, hot rods and car shows. Hoping to open by the end of June, 2015, Smarty Pants will offer scratch made grilled sandwiches, homemade soups and chilis and brunch on the weekends. The retro-style bar will offer craft cocktails, local craft beer and wine, happy hour daily and is family friendly.
When I stopped by Tuesday, they were in the process of creating what will surely be the sunniest outdoor patio in Burien! Look for them to open in late Juneat 626 SW 152nd St.
New Sports bar (so new, there’s no name!)
Rita Dixson of West Seattle, owner and operator of The Bridge sports bar, has secured the space where long-time, Irish pub Mick Kelly’s had been. Rita is excited to open a bar in Burien. Rita and crew are busy remodeling the space, bringing it up to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) code. She tells me the focus will be Classic American food with an upscale twist, boasting a full bar with 16 rotating beer taps, daily happy hour, weekend brunch and the perfect spot to watch your favorite sports teams with your friends.
If the popularity of The Bridge in West Seattle is any indication, Burien is about to receive the coolest sports bar. It could be a great place to watch the Hawks while noshing on some seriously good food. Look for them to open in mid-August at 435 SW 152nd St.
