SMH Announces New Tukwila Facility
Tue, 06/30/2015
SEATTLE – June 29, 2015 – Sound Mental Health, which served more than 3,400 children and 5,000 families last year, announced its newest facility in Tukwila today. The new 17,000 square foot facility enables Sound Mental Health to support the growing need for quality behavioral health services in the South County region. It will house the organization’s Child and Family Services program as well as support the agency’s Adult Services program.
To officially open the doors to the community, the agency will host an open house on Tuesday, June 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch and refreshments will be served and key staff will provide facility tours.
The new facility, which is centrally-located in South King County, opened its doors at a time when the need among SMH’s existing client base and new customers is growing. Located within close proximity of SMH’s “Tukwila West” location, “Tukwila East” enables the organization to expand and enhance all of its youth programs, including school-based mental health programs; its domestic violence program, its chemical dependency programs that serve youth, its individual youth and group therapies, and others.
“Tukwila East reflects our commitment to providing the most innovative behavioral health services in an environment that is secure and encourages a sense of well-being for the families we serve,” said David Stone, CEO of Sound Mental Health. “The location is accessible to the thousands who live here,
is highlighted by a clean and contemporary layout and will scale to meet anticipated growth in the future.”
The open house is one of several events the agency is planning in the year to come, leading up to its 50th Anniversary celebration in May 2015 during its annual gala, Mental Health Matters.
