PacWest of Burien and SeaTac got out of the gate quickly at the Senior Little League all-star baseball state tournament in Snohomish despite not gaining experience in a District 7 tournament.
The team went straight to state since it was the only one in the district, but won its first two games before absorbing a narrow 8-5 loss to District 6 in Wednesday's winners bracket final.
PacWest opened the age 14-15 action with an 11-1 victory over District 8 on Monday before blasting District 4 by a 10-3 score the next night.
Wednesday's loss dropped the team into the losers bracket final Friday, which it narrowly lost in a rematch with District 4, 6-5.

West Seattle took a 15-2 loss to Everett, which opened with a 14-0 blasting of Chinook on Saturday.
The Westsiders were set to return to the South Kitsap West complex for a 6 p.m. loser's bracket game against Salmon Creek on Monday.
West Seattle needs three-straight wins to reach Thursday's 6 p.m. final, then would have to win twice to take the double-elimination tournament.
