Burien’s biggest art event with new twists rapidly approaching on November 21

Burien’s biggest annual art sale and gala is little more than a week away.
You won’t want to miss it. Mark Saturday, Nov. 21 on your calendar now for Burien Art Association’s 8th Annual Vision 20/20 event. Vision 20/20 is at the Burien Community Center, 14700 6th Ave. S.W. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Sure, there will be the usual affordable art, buying frenzy, fun food from local restaurants, marvelous music, refreshing beverages and great raffle prizes.
But this year, there are a couple of exciting new twists:
Get a sneak preview of Burien Arts’ mind-bending Wearable Art Runway Show with live models.
And Burien’s economic development director, Dan Trimble will unveil the winners of the city’s “Storyboard Burien” photo contest. The city’s brand-new Film Office sponsored the photo contest to discover the best locations in Burien to film.
Artwork from the personal collection of former Burien Arts president Linda Dougherty will be available through a silent auction. Dougherty died July 7 and her family has generously donated Linda’s collection to the Burien Arts Association. Proceeds from the silent auction will go toward the Linda Dougherty Scholarship for high-school students studying art.
Veteran Vision 20/20 goers will know to browse carefully the more than 400 pieces of small artworks and then stake out a spot by their favorite pieces. Because when the bell rings, there will be a buying frenzy as they snatch their favorites off the wall and head over to the waiting cashiers.
Each 8”x 8” work is only $50 (tax included) and the money goes to support Burien Arts great programs throughout the year.
Burien Arts sponsors the Burien Arts Gallery with monthly fine-arts exhibits, the Highline Classic Jazz Festival, Shakespeare in the Park, Wild Strawberry Festival strawberry shortcake booth, student workshops and more.
