Federal Way graduate Travis Ishikawa is available on the free agent market coming from the Pittsburgh Pirates after hitting the clinching home run for the San Francisco Giants in the 2014 National League Championship Series.

Conger traded to Tampa Bay

Federal Way native Hank Conger was traded this off season to the Tampa Bay Rays from the Houston Astros.
The veteran catcher joins Highline High School graduate Ryan Brett in the Rays' organization.
Brett is a second baseman who played briefly for the Major League team before going down with an injury in May.

Brittany McPhee buries 21

Brittany McPhee from Mount Rainier High School buried 21 points for the Stanford University women's basketball team to help it to a 59-34 win at Arizona on Saturday.

Mount Rainier graduate Jordan McPhee swished in 17 points for the Seattle Pacific University women's basketball team in its 66-65 loss to Northwest Nazarene on Saturday and hauled down six rebounds.

Gandy contributes in victories

Mount Rainier graduate Kiana Gandy played a key role for the Western Washington University women's basketball team in a pair of victories this past week.
She scored 11 points and had five rebounds, one assist and one steal in a 63-43 victory over Concordia on Thursday then had an impressive eight assists to go with two points and two boards in a 61-59 win over Western Oregon on Saturday.

Penner racks up 11 rebounds

Kennedy graduate Mitch Penner amassed 11 rebounds to go with his eight points in a 79-75 Seattle Pacific University men's loss to Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday.
