Moore signs with Antelope Valley
University of Antelope Valley women’s volleyball team head coach Sherisa Livingston recently announced the signing of incoming freshman setter Jasmine Moore from Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien.
"Jasmine is an impact setter, and she will certainly add another dimension of power and talent to our outstanding group of returning and incoming players,” Livingston said. “She is also a tremendous teammate and leader, and Jasmine has a positive attitude and believes in her own capabilities.
“We demand the best athletes, and our program demands the best people as well. We know we have a great person and player joining our family.”
Moore is the daughter of Rick and Shawna Moore, and brings a winning mentality to the UAV locker room in Lancaster, Calif. The Des Moines, Wash., native won the 3A State Championship in 2015 – and in the process – was voted 2015 All-League Honorable Mention.
“The smaller classes (at UAV) definitely helped me decide which school to attend,” Moore said. “I find it easier for me to learn this way; I won't get lost in the crowd and I get to play the sport I love.”
Other on-court accolades include being named 2013 and 2014 First Team All-League. A year earlier in 2012, the newest Pioneer was voted Most Distinguished Hitter.
Moore has previously volunteered at the White Center Boys & Girls Club and Child Haven, so not only will she make plays on the Pioneer Event Center floor, Moore will make an impact in the Antelope Valley community as well.
She has decided to major in Sports Management.
Moore will join her teammates in the summer as the squad gets ready for its second season in program history.
